I noticed sometime back a thread about the price of the map updates from NAVTEQ. They want $199.00 plus $9.95 for shipping and handleing. I, as well as many others find this to be a little high. Because my wife has a 2010 Explorier and I'm waiting delivery of a 2011 Flex, both with the nav system, I contacted NAVTEQ to find out if I would have to purchase two updates or could I use one for both cars. Yes you wouldneed separate orders for your car and your wife's as you would need to provide the units Key code in order to generate an activation code in order for the system to allow the download to complete. I brought up this subject with my Ford dealer and they were surprised that I would have to pay for map updates. After they researched it they agreed with what I told them. Because, as NAVTEQ says, 'the units Key code' they could not install a copy they would buy.
I think it's time for Ford owners to express their dissatisfaction
